Vanue: Kg Genting, Tioman Island

This trip is designed for those who are interested in becoming scuba divers. This is the first step into the world of scuba diving. Upon completion participant will receive an internationally recognized scuba diving license.

Open Water License (OW)
• Price: RM1150 (MMU Student) RM1200 (Non-MMU Student) per person

Inclusive of:
• PADI Open Water Diving License and Manual
• Meals (3 times per day)
• Accommodations
• Diving Equipment (Tank, BCD, Mask, etc)
• Qualified Instructor
• Transportation from MMU Campus to jetty

3) KLCC Aquaria Trip. The annual most anticipated activity is HERE!
A chance for you to go explore the mysterious Aquaria Trip at KLCC. What more, a visit to the KLCC SkyBridge! Stand a chance to stand on top of the glass floor and take pictures with your friends, make it a memorable one!
Last but not least, I believe this is the best part of all, a shopping trip to KL's shopping mall! The shopping mall will be either Times Square/Pavilion/Sg Wang/Lowyat. NOT confirmed yet but we promise you there will be one. :)

Project Aware-Tioman

On 2nd October - 6th October 2010, MMU Divers Club organized a conservation base event which is PROJECT AWARE-Tioman with two groups of divers.

PROJECT AWARE-Tioman is a underwater cleaning activities that is going to take place at Pulau Tioman. The event is opened only to certified divers.

Date : 2nd to 4th October 2010 ( First group)
         : 4th to 6th October 2010 ( Second group)

Venue : Kampung Genting, Pulau Tioman

Official resort/accomodation : Impian Inn

Official dive centers : Samudra Scuba Diver

Instructor : Daren Chua

No. of Divers : 8 divers ( 2 groups )

Activities :

-Underwater cleansing.

-Pick up rubbish underwater.

- Pick up 'Crown of thorn'

What is Crown of Thorn?

The crown-of-thorns starfish is a large nocturnal sea star that preys upon coral polyps. The crown-of-thorns receives its name from venomous thorn-like spines that cover its body. It is endemic to tropical coral reefs in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Pacific Ocean. As solitary animals, they feed alone and maintain constant distance between themselves and other members of their species.The crown-of-thorns is the second largest sea star in the world. Only the sunflower starfish is larger.

 

Too much of 'crown of thorn' will cause coral bleaching.

How to pick up 'COT'?

We pick up the 'COT' by using a hook. Then, we bring them all up to the beach and bury them under the sane. More than 20 'COT' had been collected during the whole project.
